I bought it thinking I would use it in my later years, but it is a rod that is beyond my skill level, so I am forced to let it go. It is from 1915 and was refinished by Steve Blake, one of the top restorers in the United States, and has never been used since then, including by me. It is unfortunate that a photo cannot convey the beauty of the rod, but with a glossy crimson blank, stepped maki, red agate mill drum stripper guide, and extra tip, it is truly a gem worthy of being called a special. Given its length and action (medium slow, as I heard from the dealer), I think it is the perfect match for a long tippet system.
