Description: New Year Thai Calendar 2025 Wall Hanging Luang Por Sothon Lucky Rich Fortune Gift DescriptionLegend of Luang Por SothonIn history, there is no evidence that can confirm or say who created the legend of Luang Por Sothon, or when it was founded or built. There is only a story that has been passed down through the generations that in a province of Thailand in the north, there were 3 monks, brothers who studied the Dharma and Vinaya and transformed themselves into Buddha statues. In a certain area, there was an appearance of Luang Por Sothon and the villagers living in that area helped each other bring a Manila rope to pull it up, but the rope broke and they could not pull it up. Before the 3 monks sank in the area where the 3 monks floated upstream and escaped, they were called 3 Phra Thuan, which later became distorted to Sampathuan, Mueang District, Chachoengsao until today. Later, it appeared again at Khlong Kung. When the villagers saw it again, they tried to find a way to pull the statues up to shore, but it was unsuccessful again. That place is now called Bang Phra. After that, the 3 Buddha statues performed miracles in a small canal. Opposite the 2nd Engineer Battalion, Chachoengsao, that area is currently called Laem Loi Wan and the canal is called Khlong Song Phi Nong. After time passed, one of the statues floated to the Mae Klong River and appeared in Samut Songkhram Province. Fishermen unanimously invited it to be enshrined at Wat Ban Laem or Wat Phet Samut Worawihan. It is a sacred Buddha statue that Buddhists in Samut Songkhram Province respect. It is currently called Luang Pho Ban Laem. Until the second statue appeared in front of Wat Hong. According to local legends, this temple originally had a large pillar decorated with a brass swan on top of it, so it was called Wat Hong. Later, the swan on top of the pillar fell and broke, so the temple put a flag on top of the pillar instead of the swan, so it was called Wat Sao Thong. Later, a strong wind blew a part of the pillar down again, so the temple was renamed Wat Sao Thon, which later changed to Wat Sothon as it is today. The villagers flocked to ask for help to pull it to the shore but were unsuccessful. At that time, there was a teacher with great power who was knowledgeable about the occult and the story of witchcraft. He knew the principles and methods of successful prayers. So he performed the ceremony of building a shrine to worship and invited the deities to pray. He used a sacred thread to tie around the hand of the Buddha statue. Then he slowly pulled it to the shore until he succeeded. When the Buddha statue came to the shore, the villagers were very happy. So they all agreed to invite it to be enshrined in the Phra Wihan of Wat Sothon and called it Phra Phuttha Sothon or Luang Pho Sothon since then. And the last one floated to the Chao Phraya River. The people living in that area also asked for help to pull it to the shore but were unsuccessful. It is believed that 300,000 people came to help pull it. That place was therefore called Sam Saen. Later, there was a story and the name was distorted to Sam Sen as it is today. After that, this Buddha statue floated to the surface at Khlong Samrong. In Samut Prakan Province, people have invited it to be enshrined at Wat Phlap Phla Chai Chana Songkhram or Wat Bang Phli Yai at present, which is considered another sacred Buddha image in Thailand, namely Luang Pho To at Wat Bang Phli Yai Nai.
