Description: Olympia SM8 in very poor, nonfunctional condition. It has the rare small 10 point elite typeface. Typewriter is very dirty and shows lots of wear cosmetically. It is missing one foot, and the other three are removed but are included. Internally it has problems as well: Three keys along the far right side of the segment do not actuate their respective type bars due to loose linkages, several keys stick because the mechanism is gummed up from an old heavy automotive-style grease that was used at some point in its past that has hardened and turned into a sticky thick substance. This machine needs to be torn down bare and probably dunked into grease stripping solvents to effectively clean it, and the type bar linkages need to be reattached underneath while its torn down. I tried to get in there and reattach them, but it is an impossibly tight fit and realistically it will just require the machine to be disassembled to reattach them. This is a repair project for a typewriter expert with a suitable cleaning/degreasing setup and teardown experience. Comes with original case. If you buy this thinking you can repair it only to realize you are in over your head, please do not abuse my return policy. Please be realistic about this project. You will sink many, many hours to get this machine working again and it will be a long and frustrating job. You can go buy an already working one for $200-300 on ebay. This is a repair project for someone who is specifically looking for a repair project. Ships free. Thanks for looking!
