Description: Antique Wood Vegetable Slicer Mandolin Patd. 1898 Catawissa Specialty Mfg. Original Label A very nice old antique wood vegetable slicer, with serrated metal blades, made by the Catawissa Specialty Mfg. Co. in Catawissa, Pennsylvania. I couldn't find any historical information about the Catawissa Specialty Manufacturing Co. Most of the original label remains on the back. It shows a patent date of February 22, 1898. The patent date is also stamped into the wood on the reverse side. (Please see photos.) This is from my mom's collection of antique and vintage kitchenware. It is approximately 21 1/4 inches long and 3 11/16 inches wide. It is approximately 2 7/16 inches deep not including the pusher handle. It is clean and in nice antique condition. (Please see photos.) The blades show some discoloration and rust but the serrated edges are still sharp. (Please see photos.) The label on the back has darkened and is cracked and has crumbled in some places, but is still mostly there and readable. (Please see photos.) There is a hole at the top for hanging on the wall and there is a stop at the bottom to keep the pusher from falling out when it is hung. A wonderful display piece in a vintage kitchen collection or a rustic farmhouse kitchen. Please email with any questions or if more photos are required. Some international shipping. Will combine on shipping so please see the other antique and vintage kitchen collectibles I have listed. Will be carefully packed for safe shipment. Please choose either USPS Ground Advantage or Priority shipping.
