Description: This is a very rare and unusual small antique Black Forest Wooden Case with a carved chamois and foliage on one side and a floral like design on the back. The photos are its best description. It appears to be carved from walnut but it could be some other hardwood. You can see that it slides apart to reveal a small inner space probably intended to hold cigarettes or small cigars. (It does not smell of tobacco.) It is 5.25 inches long, 2.75 inches wide, and 1 inch thick. It weighs 2 ounces. We have had a few small Black Forest carved cases over the years but this one is very nice, without flaw, and has that wonderful carved, young chamois. We thought it a stunning little case for someone who loves rare antiques to store their business cards. or a thumb drive.. but it is a bit fragile for everyday use. Better just to display this treasure with your other Black Forest items and just enjoy its beauty. We had our Black Forest antiques expert examine it for pricing.
