Description: Unique recipe book from the 1940s with the main ingredient being avocados. Avocados were not a produce item readily available to all Americans during this period, so it is a quite rare recipe book. Produced by the Californian based company Calavo which still exists today. Recipes focus on salad type dishes but they're quite liberal in the interpretation of salad. First 8 pages talk about avocados in general - how to ripen, storage, the cooking and use of avocados in dishes. Condition is quite good considering its age - good color, no stains, no tears and bound to spine. The most noticeable blemish is some of the cover has peeled off on the right side, but otherwise, just minor wear elsewhere. Approx. dimensions - 7-3/4" x 5-1/2" with 24 pages and 30+ recipes. Quite a few colorful food pictures too.
