Description: Here you get 10 seeds of the Pepino melon, also known as solanum muricatum. As a member of the nightshade family, this bush can grow up to 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide. They benefit from staking or caging, much like a tomato plant. The fruit has a refreshing taste that resembles a cross between a melon and a pear. How to plant:· Sow the seeds early, from February, in compost on a warm windowsill, before planting them out in mid-May. · Use a good quality, well-drained seed starting mix and either a cell tray or biodegradable pots. · Plant the seeds on top of the soil, cover with a light layer of soil, and water well. · It typically takes about 7-10 days for the seeds to germinate. · Bottom heat from an inexpensive seed heating mat can speed the process. · Plant pepinos in sun exposure and in moist soil with lots of organic matter. · Once they have attained enough size to transplant, transfer into individual pots but keep them in the house for their first winter Please have a look at my other seed auctions.
